How to Connect Google Analytics to Funnelish

Why Connect Google Analytics to Funnelish?

While Funnelish has its own analytics dashboard, connecting Google Analytics gives you a much deeper view of your funnel traffic — where visitors are coming from, how they behave on each page, how long they spend reading your content, and how different traffic sources compare in conversion rate.

Google Analytics is also essential if you're running Google Ads, as it enables conversion tracking and helps you optimize your campaigns for actual purchases rather than just clicks.

GA4 vs Universal Analytics

Google has fully migrated to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) as of 2024. If you're setting up Google Analytics for the first time, you'll be using GA4. GA4 uses a different tracking model than the older Universal Analytics — it's event-based rather than session-based, which actually makes it better suited for tracking funnel steps.

Step 1 — Get Your GA4 Measurement ID

Log into Google Analytics. Select your property (or create a new one). Go to Admin → Data Streams → Web. Click on your web data stream. Copy your Measurement ID — it starts with "G-" followed by letters and numbers (e.g. G-XXXXXXXXXX).

Step 2 — Enable Google Analytics Globally in Funnelish

Log into Funnelish. Click the Apps icon in the top right header. Find Google Analytics and toggle it on. Enter your GA4 Measurement ID and save.

Step 3 — Enable Google Analytics Inside Your Funnel

Open the funnel where you want GA4 tracking. Go to the Apps tab inside the funnel. Enable Google Analytics and confirm your Measurement ID. Save the settings. Both the global and funnel-level steps are required.

Step 4 — Set Up Conversion Events in GA4

In GA4, go to Admin → Events. Mark the purchase event as a conversion. This tells GA4 to count purchases from your Funnelish thank you page as conversion events, which you can then use for Google Ads optimization.

Step 5 — Link GA4 to Google Ads (Optional)

If you're running Google Ads, link your GA4 property to your Google Ads account. Go to Admin → Google Ads Links in GA4 and follow the linking process. Once linked, your GA4 conversion data flows into Google Ads for campaign optimization.
